Motorists can now utilize the first 1.73-kilometer section of the 5.39-kilometer Manila Batangas Road Project in the city of Lipa, Batangas Province.
Citing a report from DPWH Regional Office 4-A, DPWH Secretary Roger G. Mercado said that the partial opening of the road on Friday, March 18, 2022 coincides with the celebration of the city’s Araw ng Bagong Lipa.
DPWH has so far allocated a total of P582.6 Million for the bypass’ completed Section 1 and ongoing Section 2. The second section which will be another 1.85 kilometer is aimed for completion in June 2022.
Its third segment, the remaining 1.84 kilometer of road will require an allocation of P300 million.
When completed, the 6-lane Manila Batangas Road will have complete safety features including: a median barrier to physically separate opposing traffic; red-painted sidewalk and bike lanes; street lights; safety signages; and pavement markings.
The new road will start from Barangay Inosluban, will pass through Lipa-Balete Road near STAR Tollway Interchange and will end in Barangay Balinatawak near Lipa Medix Medical Center.
“The completion of this new bypass road will be vital in decongesting traffic within the metropolitan city of Lipa and will further spur economic development of the city. It will cut travel time between Barangay Inosluban and Barangay Balintawak from 30 minutes to only 7 minutes,” said Secretary Mercado.
