Bryan Brown revealed the secret to his successful 40 year marriage to English-born actress Rachel Ward on Friday.
The actor, 75, adheres to the same advice husbands have often jokingly spouted over the years.
He also revealed the two of them decided to get married after they had a 'massive argument'.
'I was in London to film Give My Regards to Broad Street with Paul McCartney. Rachel came with me,' he said.
'We took a week off to go to Ireland and had this massive argument. I just thought if we're gonna argue like that, we may as well get married.'
It was love at first sight for Bryan and Rachel, 64, when they met on the set of The Thorn Birds in 1983.
They played husband and wife in the show and got married that same year only months after filming wrapped.
Bryan said no matter the 'work opportunities' the mini-series created for him, he would 'always be more grateful to it for my 40-year marriage and family'.
The long-time lovebirds married at Rachel's childhood home in Oxfordshire, England before settling in Australia and having three children - Rosie, 38, Matilda, 35, and one son, Joe, 30.
Since his big break, Bryan has built a career playing tough as nails characters.
However, the veteran Aussie actor recently revealed the Acorn TV mini-series Darby and Joan he filmed in Queensland triggered his anxiety.
He opened up to The Daily Telegraph about how the 18-week production took a toll on his mental wellbeing, causing him to struggle with insomnia.
Bryan went on to say it was a combination of the extended shoot and being away from his family for so long.
He added the ongoing Covid pandemic affected the overall mood of the production.
