We take the humble tape measure for granted. It has a lot of little tricks up its sleeve that can really help us to make the best of it. For example that is a temperature calibration written on the tape. The bit on the end is supposed to wiggle! And also it has facility to rotate around nail.
This is a metaphor for how simple things in front of us can have much more rich detail than we see at first. Perhaps we should spend some time discovering these things under our noses, rather than arguing with experts about things we don’t understand.
