Masked al-Shabaab militants have stormed a university campus in Garissa and are currently holding a number of hostages. Details are still emerging. We know at least 15 people were killed in the initial gun attack. Security forces have surrounded the hostel at University College in Garissa where the hostages are being held but access is difficult. Al Shabab have told the BBC that once inside, they separated the Muslims from non-Muslims and allowed Muslims to leave.
