A comprehensive video about the Grizzly GO776 gunsmithing lathe. The features that make this a "gunsmithing" lathe, are tighter accuracy vs. a traditional lathe, a 9" gap bed allows 18 1/2", the generous 1.57" through bore and a fully loaded threading selection (enclosed oil bath gear).
This is a 2 hp 14" x 40" metal lathe, with DRO and footbrake. I purchased this lathe in July 2023, and this is the video outlining my experience with it so far. From taking delivery and opening the shipping crate, to setting up and using the lathe. Going over most every feature, downfall, pros and cons, and everything in between.
Fun fact. 1320video made a video titled "Cleetus Mcfarland's ENTIRE Collection." In this video, when they show Cleetus Mcfarland's engine room at 29 : 01 you can see a Grizzly G0776 lathe sitting there.
I purchased this lathe as a supplement to my auto/tractor repair shop. It is not a production machine shop, so this lathe will see minimal use comparatively. There are a lot of machines on the market in the 12-14" range, and for the price and features this came with, the lathe seemed to sell itself.
