On the morning of Dec. 24, 2012, the West Webster Fire Department responded to a fire at a home on Lake Road. A gunman, William Spengler, who investigators determined started the fire deliberately, shot four firefighters, killing two of them. He also killed his sister, Cheryl, and took his own life after shooting the firefighters. This video shows much of 13WHAM’s coverage from throughout the day of the ambush.
