The Oklahoma Supreme Court has guidelines for conducting private interviews with children involved in custody and visitation disputes. The purpose is to protect the child and encourage them to speak truthfully. However, directly asking the child where they want to live can lead to manipulation or intimidation by parents. The court wants to balance the parent's rights with the child's right to be heard during in camera interviews.
