Hey, everybody. Welcome to etrailer.com. I'm Bobby, and today we're taking a look at the Yakima OffGrid on our 2021 Chrysler Voyager. Now this can be an excellent way of getting that precious cargo out of our vehicle and up onto our roof. And that can start saving us a lot of room. Especially if our family is getting a little bit bigger we're taking those, you know, those longer car rides.
It's definitely going to be very helpful to get us just a little bit of space inside our vehicle. Now, the Voyager does have a lot of cargo area. But as you mention, every little bit can help. And this guy is also very useful in other means as well. We do have some adapter bars at top, so they can make it very versatile, adding some more accessories onto our roof.
And we are getting a lot of length on the back end. So, let's hop up. You can see, we do have these adapter bars that we've talked about. Now, this can be a great way, adding a couple different accessories actually on our roof baskets. So we're not only limited to A.
Carrying cargo. We can start maybe putting a kayak carrier up here or maybe a bike holder, or even the ski holders can be a great option with this. So I really liked the versatility they can actually give us and it can also be used as just a cargo divider. So very, very useful little design here. taking a look too, you can see that we're not going to have any kind of weather buildup.
We're not having any flat areas that water's going to be pooling. So that's going to make this very nice to actually just leave on our vehicle. We can give it a quick rinse if it gets muddy at all, and it's going to come right off. Now the black powder coat finish is going to hold up pretty okay. I would definitely be careful with it though. Just making sure when we're setting things up in here, we're trying not to scratch it. However, it can be pretty quick and easy to actually fix if we ever needed to. And the back end here, I really like this open slot. A lot of times with these cargo baskets, you really start feeling confined to the space that you're given. However, with this open end, and our removable fairing up top, we are going to get a lot of versatility. I'm getting to mean those long boards that we want to put in here. Maybe we're hauling lumber for some family projects. I really like how this fairing actually comes out, as well as just giving us a little bit of wind resistance, hopefully reducing that drag as we go down the road. Taking a look at the dimensions themselves: We do have a 38 inside width dimension here, 38 inches. A 39-inch long on the inside here from our fairing. Now it does say 44 on the website, and you are getting that full length. However, that will be underneath this fairing. So keep in mind, you're just losing a few little inches by this guy. Keep in mind though, he is removable, if we need to. And I really do like the inside of these pivot points. You know, we're getting a lot of contact points here. We can get a lot of little areas where we can start getting our bungee cords through, making sure we're doing a good job of holding down all of our precious cargo. And with this guy, we definitely want to keep some things in mind, specifically our weight capacity. Now our basket itself can go to 165 pounds. However, our roof system here on our Voyager is only up to 150 pounds. So keep in mind too, that our carrier itself is going to add into that weight. So with about 40 pounds on this carrier, we already are kind of knocking off a lot of that weight capacity on our roof system. However, that still leaves us with ample amount of weight to start getting what we need to the campsite. So, the hardest thing with our install is actually going to be getting the cargo basket up on the roof. I highly recommend getting a second pair of hands. However, it's still definitely manageable by yourself. Just keep in mind, you start, you know, kind of hitting the bottom of this roof rack on your vehicle. Definitely want to be preventing any kind of damage. So, just be careful when we do that. Then when we actually get it up here, we do have these sliding foot pads on our bars. So all we want to do with those guys is simply bring them around, get our foot set, like so. As you can see, line it up with our crossbars, bring that rubber-coated metal stripping underneath it, up and around and you're going to find this little slot that
