The House Sparrow was declared as the 'State Bird' of our city, New Delhi, the capital of India by our Chief minister, Sheila Dixit, in 2009. But the need to make it as our state bird was felt when their numbers dropped in not only urban areas, but in the rural areas of the country. First time the need for the conservation of a very common bird was felt in our country.
Through this video, I wanted to tell all the Delhites that the sparrow is our pride and we have to save it. And, to the people who are watching this video, who belong to the places where the house sparrow is common, save your sparrow or their numbers may go down without even getting noticing. It better to be safe, than sorry.
