QPL's Culture Connection is proud to host an evening with writer Brian Alessandro.
In Alessandro's second novel, “Performer Non Grata,” protagonist Risk Bonaventura, a former investment banker, moves his family to Madrid to try bullfighting, only to be struck by conscience and injured by the bull. What follows is a love triangle with his wife, Lorna, and Javier Forza, a matador. Meanwhile, the couple’s queer video artist son Theo comes of age and engages in clandestine activities.
Alessandro has written for PANK, Newsday, and The Huffington Post, and in 2022 adapted Edmund White’s “A Boy’s Own Story” into a graphic novel and co-edited “Fever Spores: The Queer Reclamation of William S. Burroughs.” His first novel, “The Unmentionable Mann,” was published in 2015. This program will be moderated by Gal Beckerman, currently senior editor at The Atlantic.
