Dr Rakib Ehsan, from the Centre on Radicalisation and Terrorism at the Henry Jackson Society, has criticised calls for police to drop the terms “Islamist terrorism” and “jihadis”.
The request was made by the National Association of Muslim Police over concerns of negative perceptions and stereotyping.
Speaking with talkRADIO’s Mike Graham, Dr Ehsan said: “It’s very important that we have clarity over these attacks because it’s very important that we factor in and understand the ideological motivations.”
