Encapsulation of cells in hydrogel droplets, creating a three-dimensional microarchitecture provides many outstanding advantages compared to single droplet-geometry and has promising applications in tissue engineering, regenerative medicine, and cell-based drug delivery. Therefore our laboratory group successfully constructed a microfluidic platform both by 3D-printing and photolithography techniques. Microbead formation ability was validated using chitosan, dispersed in mineral oil, and a tripolyphosphate as a crosslinking agent and visualized with encapsulated fluorescent nanoparticles
Student project: Fabrication and validation of a microfluidic PDMS device for cell encapsulating microbead formation.
This movie is part of a student project in the BioMed student laboratory (Kemkemer, Athanasopulu) - Bachelor degree program Biomedical Science at Reutlingen University
