The Nigerian Senate approval of the $22.7 billion external loan request sent to it by President Muhammadu Buhari is generating a growing anger among the people of the south east zone in Nigeria, who have accused the Buhari government of not only stifling the zone, but demonstrating that he does not regard them as being a part of the country.
They have therefore called for their inclusion in the loan request or its outright cancellation.
The rolling plan contained the $22.7 billion loan request to fund some specific on-going projects across the country and was considered and approved at the Executive session of the Senate.
The exclusion of the south east region from the project to be executed with the loan has taken a new turn with the suit brought against the federal government of Nigeria by Joe Nwokedi, a human right lawyer who will be looking at the exclusion of the Southeast of Nigeria from the 22.7 billion dollar loan being procured by the Federal Government.
