In this fourth week of the series we take a bit of a different approach and look at the brokenness of our world by looking at the evil that is inside us all. What do we do with that? How do we respond? Over and over again the Bible calls us to respond with a pursuit of holiness and the mortification of sin that is in us.
1 Peter 1:15 (The Message)
Let yourselves be pulled into a way of life shaped by God's life, a life energetic and blazing with holiness. God said, "I am holy; you be holy."
1 Peter 1:14-16 (NLT)
So you must live as God’s obedient children. Don’t slip back into your old ways of living to satisfy your own desires. You didn’t know any better then. But now you must be holy in everything you do, just as God who chose you is holy. For the Scriptures say, “You must be holy because I am holy.”
Romans 8:12-14 (NLT)
Therefore, dear brothers and sisters, you have no obligation to do what your sinful nature urges you to do. For if you live by its dictates, you will die. But if through the power of the Spirit you put to death the deeds of your sinful nature, you will live. For all who are led by the Spirit of God are children of God.
