On Monday at Seaspan Vancouver Shipyards employees, we consolidated the 190-tonne superstructure grand block to the hull of the Offshore Oceanographic Science Vessel (OOSV).
Consisting of six individual blocks including the bridge, the grand block was outfitted prior to consolidation with bridge consoles and other equipment and material such as piping, cable trays and main cables to maximize build efficiency.
Following this successful lift with Big Blue, the hull of the OOSV is on its way to achieving structural consolidation by the end of the year. At 8.8 m high, the addition of the superstructure grand block brings the vessel to its current height of 24m.
