From Dorfgastein, today we hike to probably the most beautiful mountain lakes in the area, the Paarseen. The steady, moderate ascent takes us past mountain huts (where refreshments are available), wetland areas and low moors. Shortly before you catch sight of the upper lake, you have the option of hiking up to the Gasteiner Höhe, elev. 1,994 metres. When visibility is good, you can look from there all the way deep into the Pinzgau. After a short descent, you will catch sight of the upper Paarsee, as you will the somewhat lower, though slightly bigger lake at 1,856 m. A wide variety of fauna and flora, including silver thistle, marmots and European adder, make this incredibly beautiful hike a memorable experience for everyone.
