Having cleared the Rajya Sabha hurdle, the GST bill is currently being debated in the Lok Sabha. The bill is expected to be passed comfortably in the lower house as the BJP enjoys the desired strength and almost all other parties are also on-board. The congress and the BJP have also issued a whip asking all the members to be present in the house. The Biju Janta Dal has moved an amendment for consideration, thought they continue to support the bill. Prime minister Narendra Modi is expected to address the lower house before the bill is put to vote. Earlier in the day, the Finance Minister, who introduced the bill in the Lok Sabha actually thanked all the political parties for arriving at the consensus on this landmark legislation.
