Hey mama, I thought you could save this post for future (or current) reference.
Ok, here's the quick and easy bullet points:
🍼Once expressed, the fresh milk can be stored at room temp for up to 4 hours.
🍼 If stored in the fridge, it can stored for up to 4 days. Always put it in the back, NEVER THE DOOR as they temperature is not stable there.
🍼 If stored in the freezer, it can be stored up to 6 months
🍼Always put the milk in the back of fridge or freezer, NEVER THE DOOR as the temperature is not stable there.
🍼 Always label the milk with the date you pumped it.
🍼 Store it in small amounts so that instead of thawing out too much, you can grab extra bags to get to the amounts your baby needs
🍼 When thawing, grab the oldest dated bag first. "First in, first out."
🍼 Once thawed and to room temp, use within 2 hours.
🍼 Thawed milk can be stored in the fridge for 24 hours from the time it thaws.
🍼NEVER microwave or use boiling water to thaw the milk, instead thaw it overnight in the fridge, put it in a lukewarm cup of water, or under running WARM water.
🧼 Always practice cleanliness when handling breast pumps and storing breastmilk. Wash hands, clean the pump and use appropriate containers to store the milk.
Comment below with any tips I may have missed; How much do you rely on pumping ? I do it for about 2 night feeds. What about you?
