Philippians 3:13,14 ~ … Forgetting what is behind and straining toward what is ahead, I press on toward the goal to win the prize for which God has called me heavenward in Christ Jesus.
FORGETTING WHAT IS BEHIND
** The “voices” love to bring up past misbehavior and mistakes.
** In my past life, they would bring up stuff that I had forgotten that I had done. The shame of seeing my raunchiness often caused me to whisper to myself, “What was wrong with me! Where was my head!”
** This would be the start of a downward spiral that would take me back to a desire to numb myself. Binge eating was my usual “go to”, but I had other shameful escapes that would pull me in!
** This is not the case today. The voices still speak, but I have learned to close their mouths through Truth.
** Jesus is Truth, and all Scripture points the way to Him. There IS power in the name of Jesus.
** Because of the word of God, I have come to know and to believe the love that God has for me. This love stands me up and opens my eyes to the fact that I am forever free and forgiven by the blood of Jesus Christ.
** No sin---past, present, or future, can every separate me from the love of God which is in Christ Jesus (Romans 8:38-39)!
** Instead of moaning about the sins of my old life, I put on the full armor of God and I press on.
** {Dear Father, I believe Your word so I will not let my old life stop me from joining You to fight the good fight. I have been forgiven. Therefore, I won’t sit down. I will not draw back (Hebrews 10:39)! I am a new creation and I set my face like a flint as I keep in step with the Spirit. Thank you for another day of joining You in the work of winning souls and pointing everyone to Your Son. In the name of Jesus Christ, I pray. Amen.}
