Surah Luqman - Verses 12-19:
Without a doubt, We gave Luqman wisdom. From that wisdom was:
Be grateful to Allah. Whoever is grateful is only grateful for their own good. And whoever is ungrateful, then surely Allah is Self-Sufficient, Appreciated, and Praised.
So remember when Luqman told his son as he was advising him, "My dear son, do not equate anyone or anything with Allah. Equating things to Allah is a grave crime."
We have commanded people to good and excellent to their parents. His mother carried him with difficulty after difficulty, with another 2 years of nursing after that. So be grateful to Me (Allah), and your parents. Don't forget that you will return to no one but Me. But if they push you to equate things with me - things you don't even know about - - do not obey them. But still be good to them. Follow the lifestyle of those who have already turned to Me. You will all return to Me, and I will tell all of you about everything you used to do.
Luqman continued, "My dear son, know that a good deed or a bad deed, even if it is as small as an atom, even if it's hidden inside of a rock, or somewhere in the skies, or somewhere on earth, Allah will account for it. Allah of Fully Aware of the smallest things, and of the big picture. My dear son, consistently pray the daily ritual prayers, and command and uphold what is good, and forbid and condemn what is evil. Be patient regardless of what afflicts you. That is something that requires a lot of determination. Do not turn your cheek up out of arrogance towards other people. And do not walk with arrogance on this earth either. Allah does not like any arrogant boastful person. Instead, be normal in how you walk, and speak in an appropriate tone. Keep that in mind because the braying of donkeys is the most detested sound.”
