Nike, goddess of victory, daughter of the giant Pallas and of Styx, the goddess of the underworld. She is both associated with war and friendly competition. She is also associated with Athena, the goddess of wisdom and strategic warfare, and Zeus, the king of the gods. Since she had both close relations with these two deities, she became their charioteer and is often depicted as such.
