The Southern African Foundation for the Conservation of Coastal Birds (SANCCOB) released six African penguins at Seaforth in Cape Town, with acclaimed comedian Nik Rabinowitz. SANCCOB has annually hosted a penguin festival in Simon's Town to commemorate the special day but this year, the NGO brings the penguin beach release experience to you online.

The endangered African penguin species is only found in Southern Africa and there are now less than 20,000 breeding pairs left in the wild. Play your part to help us conserve the species because every bird counts.
