This is Session 1 of 2 for Topic 3 in the 2021 Global Architecture Exchanges series: Affordable housing – what can architects do to address social inequalities?

Topic 3, Session 1 was held on 22 September 2021. This session includes speakers from the UK, Ireland, China, Japan and Australia.

This session explores how innovative architectural ideas respond to social inequalities such as housing, poverty, and health. What are the different ways to deliver housing when it is managed and/or delivered at different levels (council/government authorities, private housing, community let housing etc.) Look beyond the profession to supply solutions to the lack of infrastructure in some places and learn how to include the management of future crisis (be it another pandemic, climate change, or other) into our designs.
