In the past year, Pakistan has seen an uptrend in terror attacks. With the outlawed TTP resuming militant activity without announcing an end to the ceasefire, September’s tally of terror attacks was a record high. The month witnessed 42 militant attacks – the highest this year.
40 people, including 24 security forces personnel, were martyred. At least 77 people were injured – 19 of whom were security forces personnel.
A visible increase of 106% in violence in tribal districts and across Khyber Pakhtunkhwa was also observed. At least 33 people were killed and 28 injured in 33 militant attacks. On the other, Balochistan clocked a 41% decrease in militant attacks in September compared to August.
Meanwhile, Sindh reported two terror attacks that killed two and injured two others. In the wake of cleanup operations by security forces, 17 alleged militants were killed, and 18 others apprehended across the country.
