Searching for any approach to make tracks in an opposite direction from the life and town he was naturally introduced to, Tripp (Lucas Till), a secondary school senior, forms a Monster Truck from odds and ends of scrapped autos. After a mishap at a close-by oil-penetrating site dislodges an unusual and underground animal with a taste and an ability for pace, Tripp may have recently found the way to escaping town and a most unexpected companion.
