SUNY Brockport is nearing completion of a multimillion-dollar upgrade to its outdoor athletic facilities with the addition of a second turf facility adjacent to Eunice Kennedy Shriver Stadium. The major components of the project include a brand-new lighted turf stadium, a state-of-the-art press box which will service both the current and future turf facility, and a building at the entrance of the facility which will house new bathrooms and a ticket booth. The project is expected to be complete for use in the Fall of 2022.
The additional turf will be 385 feet x 399 feet and it will be the new home for Brockport's soccer, field hockey and lacrosse programs. The turf will also service a variety of other areas on campus including club sports and intramurals.
The new dual-sided press box will be a two-story 1,900 square foot facility which will replace the current press box at Eunice Kennedy Shriver Stadium. The press box will feature two operations areas, one for the east field and one for the west field, to allow for managing multiple contests simultaneously. The press box will also feature a large VIP area for guests to comfortably watch athletic contests. In addition, two media rooms and two coaches' boxes will provide extra working space for staff and visitors. An elevator will also be constructed for accessibility to the press box.
