I always have a goal to create a workshop where dust collection facilities are automatically operated when all equipment is used.
To make such a system, first of all, it is necessary to create a dust collection tube line that is automatically opened and closed with a switch.
So, I made equipment that opens and closes the 50mm dust collection tube with a small air cylinder with a 60mm stroke.
I used a little skill to open and close the four places without being bulky.
To avoid interference with other dust collection pipes, the switchgear that has been dug out of the center will move.
The movement itself is very satisfying.
Another feature of this work is that it uses a transparent acrylic tube as a dust collection tube.
You can see the path of dust movement, and it is designed to look beautiful as an interior on the wall.
It may be easy for plumbers, but I've had a few trials and errors for the first time working on a line like this.
Plus, I was going to create four switches that can operate the solenoid wire and the dust collector wire at once and link them to the drill press.
By simply turning the handle of a specific drill press, the opening and closing of the dust collection line will automatically open and the dust collector will be activated.
In the past, I used to do a lot of hiding dust collection tubes in walls or behind tables.
However, I thought that I wanted to install the dust collection process, one of the most important parts of woodworking, on the wall and see it with my eyes.
If possible, I designed it so that I could even see the movement of dust using a transparent acrylic tube.
When I finished it, it's beautiful enough to be used as an interior.
Even if it takes time, I feel like I should change all the dust collection tubes in my workshop to transparent acrylic.
In this work, there were many electrical works such as pneumatic cylinders, solenoids, magnet switches, reed switches, and LEDs.
It's not a difficult task. If you want to try something new, you have to know how to do it.
And I connected a reed switch to a drill press and made a system in which the switch was automatically opened and the dust collector was activated when the lever for drill work was pulled.
I think I can focus only on the work without paying attention to dust collection when I work on the drill.
Since the switching line is made of jack, the dust collector can also be operated with a foot switch.
Sooner or later, I will make a total of 4 automatic opening and closing lines and install them on other equipment.
Finally, I completed the drill press automatic dust collection system.
If you pay attention to installing the reed switch, I think it can be mounted on your drill press, too.
