LYDIARD PARKRUN Event #660 - My First L for the Alphabeteer Challenge!

Lydiard PARKRUN! A slightly hilly parkrun all on trail paths with a very small section on tarmac. The run is located in the South West, in a town called Swindon! This parkrun is all around Lydiard Park grounds which are stunning! Join me as I provide an in-depth review of the Lydiard Parkrun experience.

Lydiard parkrun is a two lap course starting outside the Forest Cafe by the Hook street entrance and car park. As you pass through the start line, pick up the gravel path, through the corridor of trees heading towards the ‘goose foot’ junction. A 90 degree left turn takes you onto the long avenue and out to the west circuit of the park.

After a slight uphill start, the course goes gradually downhill for approximately half the lap before a steady uphill slog into a wooded area. Exit the wooded area, a sharp right turn for the completion of the first lap. At the end of the second lap, keep to the right and follow the marshals directions towards the majestic Lydiard House, into the finish funnel and the coveted finish token.

Dogs and buggies/prams are allowed at this parkrun, and there are toilets right near to the start at the Forest Cafe! As the route is almost all on trail paths, trail shoes are recommended. In terms of how busy the parkrun is, it is very busy, especially at the start of run due to a bottleneck. There are on average 363 runners/joggers/walkers a week. With it being a flat parkrun and all on tarmac, it is a great parkrun for a PB!

The weather was great on the day, blue skies, no rain and a cool temperature. The atmosphere was great and there were some great volunteers to keep you going! This is the 48th parkrun I have recorded on the channel of which you can find a playlist of them below:

I will be doing parkruns all over the UK and rest of the world! Every Saturday I take part in a 5K run trying my hardest to get under 20 mins. Lydiard is a great run to tick off the "L" on the alphabeteer challenge and it is the first "L" I have done! Let me know if you have ever completed the course. Hope you enjoy the video.
