Our strategy for delivering housing-led growth and regeneration in Stoke-on-Trent is reaping rewards.
Through our housing company Fortior Homes and our council housing repairs and maintenance company Unitas, we are building and maintaining high quality homes that meet the needs of all of our residents.
We are building high quality rented accommodation for professionals - the first city centre living apartments of their kind in Hanley, at Smithfield.
We are supporting the regeneration of brownfield sites with new homes in housing zones across the city - breathing new life into empty and redundant land. Check out City Waterside and our soon-to-be-on-site Bridgewater plans, next to the Emma Bridgewater factory.
We are creating high quality supported housing for older people at our newly-built, multi-million pound retirement villages.
We are investing £10m of Government money to clear former manufacturing sites in Burslem and make them suitable for new housing developments.
And wherever possible, we are using local labour, suppliers and contractors to do good work. Unitas is committed to using local companies for at least 70 per cent of the work it does. We're keeping the Stoke-on-Trent pound firmly in the city.
This strategy is supporting the local economy, supporting our residents and supporting the transformation of our city.
Watch as our city leaders explain how this work is being developed, as told to ITN and a national public services excellence conference.
