Duke Ellington's only UK chart entry reached #7 in 1954.
Written by drummer Louis (Louie) Bellson and covering both sides of this 78 rpm record it is a classic jazz piece featuring an extended drum solo from the master himself.
Louie, as he liked to spell it, played with the best big bands including Benny Goodman, Tommy Dorsey, Harry James as well as the Duke. In 1952 he married singer Pearl Bailey, a marriage that lasted until her death in 1990, he was also her musical director.
Louie died on Valentines Day 2009 aged 84
