The awarding of the second Short Programme BAFTA in 2019 reflects the establishment of Short Form in the mainstream. Digital platforms are enabling filmmakers to develop commercial relationships directly with viewers, while broadcasters and brands continue to commission shorts. This panel covers the main ways of funding Short Form: commissioning, brand-funding, crowd-funding and self-funding.
Chaired by Adam Gee with Charlie Phillips (Guardian), Hannah Bush Bailey (Doc Society), Catherine Bray (Random Acts), Brandon Wade (0.51 Productions), Erica Edwards (Lush Film Fund).
The session was produced by Sandy Tabalo and Maegan Tilock.
Filmed by Sheffield Hallam University students and edited by Matthew Sturdy (Cosmic Joke).
