SPIC is a self-propelled motorized 2-bogie air conditioned rail vehicle, . The 8-wheeler Self Propelled Inspection Car (SPIC) uses the power generated by the diesel alternator set provided in the SPIC car for propulsion and not the power from live OHE.

Self Propelled Inspection Car (SPIC) christened as “PARAKH” is an air conditioned 4-axle rail vehicle in which 2-axle is motorized. It is used for periodic inspection and patrolling. The SPIC uses the power generated by the diesel - alternator set for propulsion, while the air conditioning and hotel load is met by an auxiliary DA set.
In the SPIC, an underslung mounted 340 HP Power Pack provides necessary power for propulsion. The model of the engine used in the equipment is NTA - 855R manufactured by M/s CIL, Pune. It is a horizontal version engine suitable for under slung mounting, being capable of developing a power of 340 HP @1800 RPM. The radiator unit for the diesel engine is provided at the roof top.

Air Conditioning and hotel load is met by underslung mounted 40 kVA DA set. The coach is fully air conditioned and has driver desk on both sides.

Motorized bogies with BO-BO wheel arrangement. One powered axles per bogie (inner axles
are provided with traction motors). Traction motors are axle hung, nose suspended DC
series motors. Wheel set are provided with self aligning spherical roller bearings. This bogie
uses 180 kN capacity air spring suspension system.

The panels inside are Aluminium Composite Panels (ACP)/ Fiber Reinforced Plastic (FRP). LED
with direct and diffused lighting arrangement is provided. Vacuum bio-toilet with touch free
fittings has been provided. A mini pantry is provided with modern devices such as
microwave oven, induction cooktop, refrigerator, water purifier and coffee/tea machine.

Pantry compartment for storing, preparing and serving of precooked food, snacks and
beverages with equipment like refrigerator, induction cook top, coffee/tea machine, water
purifier and microwave oven.
It has also been provided with modern amenities like vacuum bio-toilet, automatic sliding doors,
GPS based PIS/PAS with digital speed indication, hot spot for infotainment, CCTV Cameras on
front and rear, mini pantry etc.
