- Born in Scotland, raised in Sierra Leone and Great Britain and spending periods of her childhood in Iran, Thailand and Zambia, Aminatta Forna is the author of the novels "Ancestor Stones," "The Memory of Love" and "The Hired Man," as well as the memoir "The Devil That Danced on the Water." Her books have been translated into more than 20 languages. Forna's essays have appeared in Freeman's, Granta, The Guardian, The Nation, The New York Review of Books and The Observer. She is currently director of the Lannan Center for Poetics and Social Practice at Georgetown University. Her new novel is "Happiness: A Novel."
- R.O. Kwon is a National Endowment for the Arts Literature Fellow. Her writing is published or forthcoming in New York magazine, The Guardian, Vice, Buzzfeed, Time, Noon, Electric Literature, Playboy and elsewhere. Born in South Korea, she has lived most of her life in the United States. Her first novel, "The Incendiaries: A Novel,"is a national best-seller and is being translated into five languages. The book was a finalist for the National Book Critics Circle John Leonard Award for Best First Book.
- Valeria Luiselli was born in Mexico City and grew up in South Korea, South Africa and India. An acclaimed writer of both fiction and nonfiction, she is the author of the essay collection "Sidewalks"; the novels "Faces in the Crowd" and "The Story of My Teeth"; "Tell Me How It Ends: An Essay in Forty Questions" and "Lost Children Archive: A Novel," her new novel. She is the winner of two Los Angeles Times Book Prizes and an American Book Award, and has twice been nominated for the National Book Critics Circle Award and the Kirkus Prize. Her work has appeared in The New York Times, Granta and McSweeney's, among other publications and has been translated into more than 20 languages.
