Large buildings are often left structurally unsound after a major fire. The damage to the building may not be obvious to the casual observer but the LAFD Urban Search and Rescue team (UR88) from Fire Station 88 in Sherman Oaks are specially trained to recognize and mitigate the hazards. At this fire, they worked alongside the Heavy Equipment Operators (separate video) to render the building safe to turn over to the owner. This short video explains some of their work.
