pulled this motor out of my 1979 toyota hilux 2wd. new camshaft, head gasket, oil pump, water pump, timing chain and sprockets, timing cover.

compression was good, rings seemed good, positions in good shape. i discovered while disassembling the motor, the original camshaft was extremely worn on piston 1 intake. i had a 22R head nearby freshly rebuilt, so i swapped the cams and rocker assembly were in much better condition.

head torqued proper, sprockets and chain lined up at tdc, distributor at piston 1, cold valve adjustement.

it’s got a weber 32/36. i have the original aisin carb too.

i wanted to post this video for others with 20R’s, 22R’s so we can ask questions and so i can learn more too. i’ll post a following video when i know it’s running.
