Meet Svitlana, a Ukrainian mother and wife from Mariupol who fled the conflict with her family. When we met Svitlana, she was staying at a temporary shelter with her 8-year-old daughter and her husband in Lviv.
Her house in Mariupol was burned down by shelling. She even showed us heartbreaking images from outside of the building where they had lived. Svitlana told us that she previously worked in a beauty salon as a manicurist. But a bomb had fallen on the salon where she worked, destroying the career she loved and killing her boss.
Svitlana is very grateful for the laundry room our partners helped Operation Blessing put together at the shelter. Before the laundry machines were installed, families like Svitlana's had to wash by hand, which was a lot of work and left clothes incompletely cleaned.
Living in Lviv has been a struggle for Svitlana with the language barrier leaving her jobless. When Operation Blessing heard her story, we provided Svitlana with a complete manicure kit so she could start her own business in Lviv.
