At the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic, scientists warned that those more at risk are people with underlying medical conditions. One of them is Asthma. According to the World Health Organisation, over 80% of asthma-related deaths occur in low-and lower-middle-income countries. As we observe World Asthma Month, we focus on how to manage Asthma during a pandemic that highly affects the respiratory system. To discuss this we are joined Professor Richard Van Zyl Smit, a Professor of Respiratory Medicine at UCT and Groote Schuur Hospital.
