The Centre on Monday implemented the Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA), five years after it was passed in Parliament. The notification comes ahead of the announcement of dates for the Lok Sabha elections by the Election Commission of India.
Senior Congress leaders across states are likely to skip contesting the upcoming Lok Sabha elections, sources told India Today TV.

On Monday, Congress's Central Election Committee (CEC) held its second meeting ahead of the general elections. Sources said that discussions took place on 62 seats across states like Gujarat (14), Rajasthan (13), Madhya Pradesh (16), Assam (14) and Uttarakhand (5).
