This video marks Edwinstowe's 25th Anniversary of the new Millennium.
It was given to the public domain by the Edwinstowe Historical Society, with special thanks going to Shirley Moore
This special Lantern Parade was organised for the people of Edwinstowe to create lanterns and make their way through the Sherwood Forest village of Edwinstowe to St Mary's Church on New Year's Eve, 1999, to see in the new millennium
The police were requested to stop the traffic but, at the last minute, they were called to an urgent issue
Stewards were there to help the procession and were of great help, stopping traffic on the busy Mansfield Rd to allow the procession to cross.
Frank Reid, one of the main organisers, said they had no idea of how many were attending and that they had arranged to meet outside the Church, however, Edwinstowe's vicar, at the time, Anette Cooper, decided to open the Church and make everyone welcome.
Frank went on to say that he was worried about the fire risk inside the Church and was extremely relieved when everyone got out safely.
He added "I remember Mike Gratton saying it was "the best New Year Edwinstowe had ever had"
