Mei Terumi (照美メイ, Terumī Mei) is Kirigakure's Fifth Mizukage (五代目水影, Godaime Mizukage, literally meaning: Fifth Water Shadow). As Yagura Karatachi's horrible rule ended, she was elected Mizukage and worked relentlessly to amend internal policies and reestablish diplomatic contacts with neighbouring villages.
Mei had to face Kirigakure's horrific academy graduation process as a young girl around the age of nine. She had battled bathed in the blood of others and her own in order to protect the town during the dark days of the Village of the Blood Mist.

Mei encountered difficulties after gaining office as Mizukage, as she worked to remove the terrible legacy left by the Fourth Mizukage and the village's history. During the aftermath of Yagura's death, Mei received a letter from the Fifth Kazekage and Hokage requesting whether Kirigakure would participate in the next Chnin Exams hosted by their villages. Mei notified the Hokage that her community would not be joining after considering the words of her advisers.

Ino Yamanaka (山中いの, Yamanaka Ino) is a kunoichi of the Yamanaka clan of Konohagakure. She and her teammates on Squad Asuma are the Ino-Shika-Ch trio of their generation.

Ino is an only daughter, who was a brilliant student at the Academy throughout her time . She met Sakura Haruno, who was ridiculed by other children because of her huge forehead. Ino stood up to the bullies and pushed Sakura to cherish her forehead instead of hiding it, eventually becoming good friends with her. Ino's advice and companionship helped Sakura gain confidence and develop into her own person throughout the years. When Sakura discovered that they both had a fixation on the same boy, Sasuke Uchiha, she contacted Ino and told her about her feelings for Sasuke.
