What is emboss bioinformatics?
EMBOSS is a free open source software analysis package developed for the needs of the molecular biology and bioinformatics user community. The software automatically copes with data in a variety of formats and even allows transparent retrieval of sequence data from the web.
pepstats reads one or more protein sequences and writes an output file with various statistics on the protein properties. This includes:
Molecular weight
Number of residues
Average residue weight
Charge
Isoelectric point
For each type of amino acid: number, molar percent, DayhoffStat
For each physico-chemical class of amino acid: number, molar percent
Probability of protein expression in E. coli inclusion bodies
Molar extinction coefficient (A280)
Extinction coefficient at 1 mg/ml (A280)
