Sometime over the last few months, Google has rolled out a new update to its camera application for the Pixel smartphones. This update changed the way Night Sight mode worked on the Google Camera.
Instead of having to manually change the app over to Night Sight mode, some Pixel smartphones are actually trying to detect whether or not you will want to enable the feature yourself (or maybe it's trying to detect when it thinks your photos will benefit from the feature).
Either way, some Pixel 4a 5G and Pixel 5 owners are now noticing the Google Camera Night Sight mode is sometimes being enabled by default when they open the camera.
Of course, we always have the ability to disable this by tapping a button in the viewfinder. But the Google Pixel excels in being able to snap quick photos that just turn out great. So this change has absolutely ruined the photo experience for some people.
Sadly, Google has yet to add a way to disable Auto Night Sight in the Google Camera app. Instead, I want to show you a couple of workarounds that can help you fix that recent change. One is by downgrading the camera application to a version before the change was implemented.
The other is to use a popular Google Camera port called Camera PX.
