Jacinta Ngobese a radio broadcaster and Zibu Masotobe- Sibiya an entrepreneur, have shared posts on their social media platforms congratulating Chidimma for her eventual success at the Miss Universe, having secured 1st runner up position in the competition.

Chidimma Adetshina's mother was implicated in a scheme where she allegedly used a false identity to obtain a South African identity document fraudulently, in order to gain access to certain benefits or privileges. Chidimma’s Identity therefore was called into question. Initially, she allegedly claimed that she has a Zulu mother, therefore, making her South African and half Zulu. However, later it was said, it’s a Zulu mother with Mozambican roots and at the end it is revealed that Chidimma’s mother is not South African. Since the investigations started, Chidimma’s mother and Chidimma have not taken the opportunity presented by the Department of Home Affairs to respond to the allegations of fraud, thus clear their names. Instead, they are no longer available at their recorded address. All the while, there is a South Africa mother who suffered as a result of this identity theft.

South African Home Affairs officials have never, at any point, blamed Adetshina for the fraud, as can be heard from the Minister of Home Affairs. But she was called upon to respond.
