U.S. Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer on Wednesday urged the Justice Department inspector general to investigate and called for a hearing by the Senate Judiciary Committee after the Department of Justice intervened to lower the sentence recommendation for Trump advisor Roger Stone.
Schumer called the move by the Justice Department a “crisis in the rule of law” and accused President Donald Trump of turning America into a “banana republic.”
