​Police are appealing for witnesses to an accident that took place Tuesday afternoon, or to the events leading up to it.

Around 5.30 Tuesday afternoon the RGP control room received a call from a member of the public saying that following an argument in Cathedral Square, a man had driven his car after a motorcyclist northbound on Linewall Road.

The chase is reported to have continued along Devil's Tower Road until the motorcyclist fell off and collided with another vehicle.

The driver of the suspect car is then said to have left the area. The motorcyclist was treated for minor injuries.

A 38 year old local man was later arrested on suspicion of dangerous driving, and following a drugs test - on suspicion of driving under the influence of drugs.
