On Saturday of Veterans Day Weekend, Amtrak's P42DC #42, painted in the 'Honoring our Veterans' paint scheme, pulled the number 50 Cardinal through Indy, with five Superliner cars. The second engine, #189, sports the 'Big Game Train' decals, applied in 2013 for the Heartland Flyer train when it hauled passengers to the Oklahoma-Texas Red River Showdown football game. Number 189 leads the Cardinal on the return trip to Chicago early Monday morning.
This was a very rare catch, especially since this locomotive was sent to the Beech Grove shops on this night due to problems, and has not run since.
