As we know, the meeting of antimatter and matter is catastrophic, so it is common sense that we cannot store the anti-matter in our normal containers.
We have explained the discovery, production, storage, and uses of antimatter in this video - [ Ссылка ]
Usually, the particles like antiprotons are stored at a very low temperature and dispersed in the electron plasma. But the most suitable method used to store antimatter is the use of vacuum and magnetic traps. Depending upon the charge of the anti-matter we can use a particular combination of electromagnetic fields to keep the particle away from the walls of the container.
A vacuum is created and antimatter is made afloat in that vacuum balanced with the forces of magnetic and electric charges. To study antimatter, you need to prevent it from annihilating with the matter. Charged antimatter particles such as positrons and antiprotons can be held in devices called Penning traps. These are comparable to tiny accelerators.
Inside it, particles spiral around as the magnetic and electric fields keep them from colliding with the walls of the trap. But Penning traps won't work on neutral particles such as antihydrogen.
Because they have no charge, these particles cannot be confined by electric fields. Instead, they are held in Ioffe traps, which work by creating a region of space where the magnetic field gets larger in all directions. The particle gets stuck in the area with the weakest magnetic field, much like a marble rolling around the bottom of a bowl.
The vacuum chamber is kept at an extremely low pressure to prevent any stray particles from interfering with the antimatter particles. The temperature of the chamber is also kept very low to minimize any thermal vibrations that could disrupt the magnetic field and cause the antimatter particles to collide with the walls of the chamber.
Once the antimatter is trapped, it can be studied and used in experiments. One of the most famous uses of antimatter is in positron emission tomography (PET) scans, where positrons are injected into the body and detected as they annihilate with electrons, allowing doctors to create detailed images of internal organs and tissues.
