Fenugreek seeds are referred to as methia, raw mangoes are referred to as keri, and pickle is referred to as achar in Gujarati.The Methia Keri Achar is made with raw mangoes, fenugreek seeds, and a little bit of spices also known as methia keri nu athanu. This Gujarati pickle is both refreshing and healthful. It will enhance the flavour of any of your meals and is an excellent condiment. In this video, we will show you how to make Methia Keri Achar at home. The steps are simple and can be done easily. Let’s check out the ingredients first to make a tasty homemade pickle.
Methia Keri Achar Ingredients:
1 Cut Raw Mango
2 tbsp Salt
½ tbsp Turmeric powder
1 Cup Fortune Kachi Ghani Oil
1 tbsp asafoetida (hing)
1 tbsp Turmeric powder
4 tbsp Chilli powder
3 tbsp Rai na kuria (Split yellow mustard)
3 tbsp Methi na kuria (Split Fenugreek seeds)
1/2 cup salt
Here’s how to make Methia Keri Achar at home:
First, thoroughly wash the raw mangoes really well and wipe them dry. Take 1 kg of raw mangoes, and cut them in half, remove the seeds, and then dice them. Next add 2 tablespoons of salt, ½ tablespoons of turmeric powder. Mix them properly. The next important step is resting this mixture for 2 hours. Dry it in the sun for 3-4 hours and make sure you cover it with a cloth.
The next step in making your homemade pickle is to add 1 cup of Fortune Kachi Ghani oil into a saucepan, which is a pure mustard oil that will enhance the flavour of the homemade achar. Heat it for 2-3 minutes before turning off the heat. To the oil, add 1 tablespoon of Asafoetida (hing) and 1 tablespoon of Turmeric. Allow it to cool after thoroughly mixing it.
The next step in making the raw mango pickle is to take a separate bowl, combine 4 tablespoons of red chilli powder, 3 tablespoons of yellow mustard powder (rai na kuria), 3 tablespoons of fenugreek seeds powder (methi na kuria), 12 cup of salt, and stir thoroughly before adding the sun dried raw mangoes. Continue to stir until all of the powders are well combined with the mangoes.
The next step in our methia keri nu athanu is to add the oil to this mixture. Store it in a clean airtight glass container and refrigerate. Your homemade achar recipe is done.
