Music arranged by Farya Faraji, based on traditional melodic motifs from Ireland. I wanted to try my hand at arranging Irish music: this is essentially a jig, dances structured in forms of triple meter such as 6/8 or 12/8, possibly of English origin as it is attested there in the 16th century. The instrumentation consists of the fiddle, which is simply the violin but played in a distinctive style without any vibrato, which gives the sound commonly associated with traditional music of this region. A bodhrán provides the percussions, with a typical triple-meter percussion pattern found in Ireland. I also added in the sound of a hammered dulcimer, less frequent nowadays in Ireland but still part of its musical history, and I used a Greek lauto for the chord progression in lieu of the commonly used Irish bouzouki--both instruments have metal strings and can therefore sound identical when played the right way while performing the chord progression.
Áine is the goddess of summer, wealth and plenty in the pre-Christian pagan religion of Ireland. A figure of fertility and sunshine, she was commonly associated with agriculture and fertile crops, and Midsummer celebrations in Ireland where usually held in her name.
