Tiny Steam Deck Beta is Cool
General
Steam developers can now select which Steam for Linux runtime to use for native titles. Please consult the partner site for more details.
Native titles will execute in 'Steam for Linux runtime 1.0 (scout)' by default, instead of the legacy runtime environment.
This behavior is consistent with Steam Deck and promotes better compatibility across all Linux desktop distributions.
Note that this new feature can be turned off globally with "-compat-force-slr off" on the Steam client command line.
Devs Can’t Ignore the Steam Deck

EA Breaks Another Game
[ Ссылка ]
Battlefield 1 received an update on October 22 that updated the game’s anti-cheat and in the process removed any compatibility for the Steam Deck. This isn’t the first EA game to adopt an anti-cheat that isn’t Linux-friendly, but it’s painful nonetheless to see another game disappear from the Steam Deck library.
New Silent Hill 2 Patch Fixes Deck Performance
[ Ссылка ]
In the 1.04 patch for the game, there are a solid amount of bug fixes with gameplay, but there is a full technical section that goes into what they have added in the backend. In this section, we see a little bullet point stating:
Improved performance and optimization for Steam Deck.
While we haven't tested it yet, their stating Steam Deck support shows that the developers are aware of the Deck and want to make it known that they are working on optimizing it as much as they can. We also see new support for FSR 3.1.1, as well as an option for AMD Fluid Motion Frames when using FSR 3.1 for supersampling, but as we noted in a previous article, these options may be locked outside of the Steam Deck version of the game. To access it, you will need to have this launch option to trick the game into thinking it is playing on a regular PC:
SteamDeck=0 %command%
Heads up, if you do use this launch command, you may run into some very high RAM usage that could lead to crashes.
The new patch should be available now, and it really has a ton of fixes throughout different parts of the gameplay. From something as little as picture frames overlapping in the Moth Room to improved deformation of Nurses' skirts, Bloober Team has gone all in to make sure we are getting a much nicer game with significantly fewer issues that could pop up.
